Frederick I. Rosenberg, DMD
Dr. Frederick I. Rosenberg, ‘Rick’ is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine. He holds a "Doctor of Medical Dentistry" degree. After Graduation he accepted an Oral Pathology Research Fellowship at Boston City Hospital where he spent a year of post Doctorate studies and research. Later he attended the Braenemark Institute of Implantology in Malmo, Sweden.
Rick has been an active member of the American Dental Association for over 20 years. He is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry and he holds licensure in Massachusetts, New York State, and the State of Maine. He has held active membership in the Northeast Society of Periodontists. Rick has been an innovator in the field of Cosmetic Dentistry. He participated in the earliest stages of the development of Laminate Veneers and the use of composite resins as a mercury free alternative to Metal based fillings. He has lectured internationally on restorative dentistry.
In 2003 he received the New York State Continuing Education Award representing dedication to the profession and patient care.
Rick owned and operated a private practice "for cosmetic and Restorative Dentistry" in Manhattan, New York for 25+ years. In 1998 ’Rick’ and his wife Vicky decided on a life-style of discovery and adventure. They moved aboard their sailboat with their son, Alec, seven years old, and two Abyssinian cats and embarked on a 25,000 mile, four year voyage that took them to South America via the Caribbean and across the Atlantic Ocean.
After landing in North Africa they sailed Eastward across the Mediterranean, the Adriatic Sea and the Aegean Sea. Rick rendered emergency care and treated hundreds of patients in villages that had never seen a dentist. They passed Tunisia and crossed the Black Sea to Bulgaria and then Russia, the Ukraine. They experienced the tragedy of 9/11 far from home in a region not particularly sympathetic to their sense of grief and loss. They sailed on to Istanbul, Turkey where they decided to end their voyage and return to mainstream America. Alec had been home-schooled for 5 years and Rick cherished the thoughts of devoting his skills to treating patients full-time once again.
Returning to America in the fall of 2002 their search began for a new home. They have settled in Kennebunk, Maine. Rick having taken over the helm at Great East Dental Associates in Springvale. Alec is attending the new Kennebunk Middle School and Vicky will be teaching skiing.
Dr. Rosenberg has extensive experience in all phases of Implant Prosthetics. He performs the fabrication and rehabilitation of teeth for fully edentulous or partially edentulous patients. He designs ‘Implant-Cases’ and provides a full range of cosmetic make-overs.
He employs completely mercury-free restorations and he routinely treats ’tooth-aches’, abcesses, delivers endodontic treatment, and uses Laser technology, air abrasion and digital radiography. His office, Great East Dental is equipped with the ultimate ‘State of the Art’ equipment systems available today.
Dr. Jay M. Knudsen, Doctor of Dental Surgery, is a graduate of the University of Detroit Mercy, School of Dentistry, where he received the American Association of Pediatric Dentistry Predoctoral Award. Dr. Knudsen is also the recipient of a Masters Degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University Of New Haven in Connecticut. Following graduation from dental school, Dr. Knudsen completed a yearlong hospital based dental residency program at Sacred Heart Hospital in Allentown, Pennsylvania. He was trained using the most modern techniques and materials in order to provide innovative and comprehensive treatment plans for his patients. This residency program provided a setting in which Dr. Knudsen excelled in implementing cutting edge modalities as well as progressive preventive maintenance programs.
